Insights gained from the crazy month!
My secret place of retreat, how much I missed you. I wished I had more time to write.
The past month was crazy. Working 9 to 5 and attending rehearsals 5 nights a week actually was not very exhausting, but coupled with insomnia, family problems, worrying about job applications and frustration with M33, it was totally unbearrable. Oh~ and not to mention the fact that I have to expend energy on travelling to different places (as far as DBS) for rehearsals, and that I have to learn and remember a large number of songs and loads of weird notes/harmonies, AND THE LYRICS!!! Chamber choir pieces and Turandot are very challenging pieces.
Anyway, I managed to sail through the busiest time in July and August in one piece. Now i'm resting again. I'm trying to squeeze time to read but so far I haven't been successful. Sigh~ Need to put more effort in this.
I'm glad I actually went through a month as crazy as this, which is largely due to my terrible time management. Ok so the insights gained....
First and foremost, in planning my future I have learnt that you have to seriously include "sleep and rest" into your agenda and give it high priority cos' otherwise you'll pack yourself with work 24/7 and because you're tired 99% of the time the quality of work will be greatly lowered.
Secondly, I'll have to diversify my activities, in terms of nature. Too much time and resources have been invested in singing this month. The biggest disadvantage is that my vocal chords will be over-used. My voice is my biggest asset in my musical career and I should be careful in maintaining it. The other disadvantage is that it ceases to be enjoyable when the involvement gets too intensive and becomes more of a job. The third disadvantage is that the scope of exposure in making friends and networking is constrained.
I will be nice if I divert some time to activities other than music, eg. Salsa. I absolutely love salsa. I basically like dancing. I should have given it more time~ Be assured I'll sign up for the intermediate course with joseph. Dancing is a kind of sport! It's good for your health (excluding your feet if you're dancing in heels~)
Talking about sports! Same as sleeping, sports should be made an important item in one's schedule. Yup regular exercise is one of my goals this new academic year.
New goals from September:
1. regular exercise eg. yoga
2. learn to sleep better and to be less stressed
3. salsa (inclusive in item 1??)
4. understanding the stock market and trading
5. job application!!!!!!!!
6. song arrangement
7. read more books!!
8. get a boyfriend??!?!?!!? I refuse to accept that this is an unachievable goal!!!
